The performance concluded the first part of the two works that made up the total work of Dance of the dead. In these works I explored alternative perspectives on cultural and artistic heritage

Hamburger Bahnhof – Museum für Gegenwart – Berlin, 2015.
Part 1: The funeral. 75 min.

Performing the Black Mountain Collage archive was initiated by Arnold Dreyblatt. The project took place at Hamburger Bahnhof – Museum für Gegenwart – Berlin. I was 1 of 6 artists invited by Dag Erik Elgin, to create work for the project. 6 deceased members of Black Mountain College was re-buried in the garden of Hamburger Bahnhof. A ritual to release spirits. The performance was developed in collaboration with performanceartist Liv Kristin Holmberg. Other artists participating in the work: Camilla Vatne Barratt-Due, Gabriele Reuter, Roey Heifetz, Kirsty Kross and Rosanna Lovell.

The performance concluded the first part of the two works that made up the total work of Dance of the dead. In these works I explored alternative perspectives on cultural and artistic heritage. The starting point was the archive of Black Mountain College. 6 deceased members of the college were chosen by main archivist of Black Mountain Collage Foundation in North Carolina, Heather South. I developed a set of methods in order to search for were their spiritual heritage might be found today. To include perspectives outside of art world and its canons, the first ritual was to re- bury the already deceased members, as a performative ritual to release their spirits.
